CMS Generation Co., a unit of CMS Energy Corp., has begun operating the 35-Mw, waste-wood-fueled, independent Genesee Power Station near Flint, MI. CMS Generation will sell the electricity to Consumers Power Co. under a long-term contract. Half the plant is owned by CMS, half by Black & Veatch Development Corp. and Genesee Power Co.

Another unit of CMS Energy, CMS Gas and Electric Marketing, has signed an agreement with Marine Coal Sales Co. of Indianapolis, IN, to market electricity, coal, and natural gas in the east central United States.

Coastal Corp. subsidiary ANR Pipeline Co. plans to sell some of its Southwest gathering facilities to GPM Gas Corp., a Phillips Gas Co. holding. Most of the facilities (em 1,570 miles of line and 14 compressor stations (em lie in northwest Oklahoma. The systems gather about 200 million cubic feet per day of natural gas from 1,000 locations. In related applications to the FERC, ANR also proposed to spin down some gathering systems to a new unregulated affiliate, ANR Field Services Co.

San Diego Gas & Electric has contracted with MDSI Mobile Data Solutions, Inc. for a computer-aided dispatch system for 275 field workers. MDSI will provide services, software, testing, and support. The system is expected to process over 1.7 million service orders per year.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has published the IEEE Glossary of Terms and Definitions Concerning Electric Power Transmission System Access and Wheeling, which contains 237 entries extracted from the latest documents from leading industry groups and the FERC.
