Don K. Davis has joined Carolina Power & Light as executive vice president of the gas and energy services unit. He also serves as president and CEO of North Carolina Natural Gas, CEO of Strategic Resource Solutions, and head of retail sales and services. Davis previously was chairman, president, and CEO of Yankee Atomic Power Co. and Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Co. Calvin B. Wells, president and CEO of North Carolina Natural Gas, has retired after 26 years with the company.

The boards of GRI and the Institute of Gas Technology have elected John F. Riordan president and CEO of the new, merged organization. Riordan is the former CEO of MidCon corp. and vice chairman of KN Energy. The merged organization had not been named at press time.

Tom Upshaw, president and CEO of Palmetto Electric Cooperative Inc., has been named chair of the Touchstone Energy board. Upshaw has served the Touchstone Energy co-ops on the Budget and Finance Advisory Committee, Brand Steering Committee, the Executive Council, and the board of directors.

Carroll Hood has been appointed to the Mississippi Oil & Gas Board for a four-year term. Hood is president of Hood Petroleum Co. Inc., Copiah Oil Co. Inc., and HICO Inc. general insurance agency.
