M. Carol Fox has been named director of inside sales and marketer services for Columbia Gas of Ohio. Gregory Slone has been named director of outside sales. Fox, the company's former director of marketer and key transporter services, joined Columbia in 1983. Slone joined in 1977, and was most recently director of wholesale sales.
Ted Lyons , founder and president of H.T. Lyons Inc., a subsidiary of PPL Corp., is stepping down from his position as president. Lyons will continue to be involved in the business in a community relations and business development role. Joe Burns , president of Burns Mechanical Inc., another PPL subsidiary, has replaced Lyons as president of H.T. Lyons.
The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator has named John R. Catlin director of client relations. Catlin served the past 17 years with the Wabash Valley Power Association, where he most recently was manager of power system operations.
The New York Independent System Operator has appointed Robert E. Fernandez as its general counsel. Prior to joining the New York ISO, Fernandez was vice president and chief regulatory counsel of Sithe Energies Inc.
Detroit Edison has named Douglas R. Gipson executive vice president, power generation, and William T. O'Connor vice president, nuclear generation. Gipson, who joined the company in 1987, previously was senior vice president of nuclear generation. O'Connor, previously assistant vice president and manager of nuclear assurance, joined the company in 1995.
Kristianne Blake has been appointed to Avista Corp.'s board. She replaces Larry Stanley , who will retire from the board next year. Blake is president of the accounting firm of Kristianne Gates Blake, P.S.
Penny J. Gullekson has been appointed vice president of customer service for Puget Sound Energy. She had been director of customer services since 1997. Prior to that, she was director of transmission and distribution services for a predecessor company, Puget Sound Power & Light Co.
Otter Tail Power Co. has named George A. Koeck corporate secretary and general counsel. He replaced Jay Myster , who retired from the company. Koeck also is general counsel for Varistar Corp., an Otter Tail subsidiary.
David Bonk , a Florida Power vice president, will become regional vice president of central Florida operations once Florida Power merges with Carolina Power & Light. Bonk, now vice president of Florida Power's mass markets area, began his career at Florida Power in 1980. Michael A. Lewis , also of Florida Power, will become vice president of the coastal region after the merger. Lewis now is director of distribution field services for the company.
CMS Energy Corp. has named Kenneth C. Emery to the new position of senior vice president, information technology, corporate services, and chief information officer for its business unit, CMS Enterprises, and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy. Emery previously was vice president and CIO of CMS Enterprises, and vice president, information technology and operations services for Consumers Energy. The company's Oil and Gas Co. has appointed W. Ken Keag vice president_Africa. Previously, Keag was vice president, exploration, at Premier Oil Natuna Sea Ltd. Kevin Thomas has been named vice president
