Commissioner Curt Hébert Jr. of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has been named the 2000 Bonbright Honoree by the Bonbright Center for the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. The mission of the Bonbright Center is to further the understanding of the principles of regulatory economics, particularly as applied to the energy industries.
Joseph K. Conner Jr. has been appointed CFO for the North American Electric Reliability Council. Previously, Conner was group controller at United Refrigeration in Philadelphia.
Yankee Energy System Inc. has named William Lee Cranford Jr. its new controller. Cranford joined the company from Northeast Utilities System, parent company of Yankee, where he had held various accounting positions since 1973.
Consumers Energy has named Susan C. Swan executive manager of electric services at its electric business unit. Swan joined Consumers Energy in 1979, and most recently was electric field manager for three of the utility's service centers.
The Rocky Mountain Electrical League has presented its Distinguished Leadership Award to Wayne Brunetti , president and CEO of Xcel Energy Inc. The award honors individuals that have demonstrated dedication, service, and leadership in the electric industry.
David Kyle has been elected chairman and CEO of ONEOK Inc. Kyle, who retains his position as company president, succeeds Larry Brummett , who succumbed to cancer in August. Brummett joined ONEOK's distribution company, Oklahoma Natural Gas Co., in 1974.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste has reelected Dr. B. John Garrick as chairman, and Dr. George M. Hornberger as vice chairman. Garrick came to the committee in 1994, and was first elected chairman in 1998. Hornberger was appointed to the committee in 1996 and became vice chairman the next year.
Avista Corp. recently announced several executive changes. JoAnn Matthiesen retired Oct. 1 as vice president of human resources and administration. Dave Brukardt was appointed CCO and vice president of investor and corporate relations. At Avista Utilities, Scott Morris was appointed president; Kelly Norwood was appointed vice president and general manager, energy resources; and Jim Jewell was named director of finance. At Avista Labs, J. Michael Davis came on board as CEO; Kim Zentz became president and COO; and Frank Ignazzitto was named vice president of marketing. Rebecca P. Mark has resigned from her membership on Enron's board. She also resigned as chairman and CEO of Azurix Corp., to pursue opportunities as a private investor in the water resources business.
