Melinda Ackerman has been appointed senior vice president of human resources for American Electric Power. She succeeds Rodney B. Plimpton, who retired. Ackerman started with AEP in 1965 at Kentucky Power.

Allegheny Energy Inc. announced that Alan J. Noia, chairman of the board, president, and CEO, has been elected to serve on the EPRI board of directors for a four-year term. Noia has more than 35 years experience in the electric power industry, and was named CEO in 1996, and chairman of the board in 1997.

Anthony G. Schuster, retired vice president of transmission systems for Northern States Power-Wisconsin, has been named to head the interim, special-purpose organization which will manage the transition from the Alliance Regional Transmission Organization companies to the independent Alliance Transmission Company.

Anaheim Public Utilities announced that Mark Edward Mazak has been named to the position of assistant general manager-finance and administration. Mazak held a similar position since 1994 with the Turlock Irrigation District, a generation, transmission, and distribution utility district in California.
