William Mahoney , CEO of Excelergy, has joined the executive committee of the National Energy Marketers Association. Bob Dickerman , president of Sempra Energy, was elected vice chairman of the National Energy Marketers Association. Dickerman has been a member of the association since 1999.
Sempra Energy named three new members of its corporate board of directors. James G. Brocksmith Jr. , William C. Rusnack , and William P. Rutledge . Their elections bring the number of Sempra Energy board members to 14. Brocksmith, an independent financial consultant since 1997, was deputy chairman and COO of KMPG Peat Marwick LLP. Rusnack is president and CEO of Premcor Inc., which he joined in 1998. Rutledge is chairman of Communications and Power Industries, a wireless technologies firm.
Chris Johns has been promoted to senior vice president and controller for PG&E Corp. Johns joined PG&E Corp. in 1996. Prior to that, he was a partner at KMPG Peat Marwick LLP, in their national public utilities practice.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge nominated Secretary of the Commonwealth Kim Pizzingrilli to the Public Utility Commission (PUC). If confirmed by a majority of the Senate, Pizzingrilli would serve until April 2002. She would replace Nora Mead Brownell, who is now a FERC commissioner.
John Ellwood has been appointed executive vice president and COO of Foothills Pipelines, Ltd. Ellwood has worked on the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation System for much of the past 25 years. He assumes full-time leadership of the joint venture company, owned equally by Westcoast Energy Inc. and TransCanada Pipelines Ltd.
First Choice Power announced the appointment of two new vice presidents: Kenneth Houston as vice president of energy services, and Terry Beck as vice president of sales. Houston previously served as director of engineering for Texas-New Mexico Power Co., after joining TNMP in 1991 as an engineer. Beck previously was industrial customer manager for First Choice Power, after joining TNMP in 1986.
Gary L. Rainwater has been elected president and COO of Ameren Corp., reporting to Charles W. Mueller , who will remain chairman and CEO. Rainwater joined the company in 1997. Daniel F. Cole was elected to assume Rainwater's role in overseeing the nonregulated generating operations of Ameren Energy Resources. Cole joined Union Electric in 1976. David A. Whiteley was elected senior vice president of Ameren Services, succeeding Cole. Whiteley joined Union Electric in 1978.
Governor John G. Rowland of Connecticut appointed Mary J. Healey to be consumer counsel for the state. Healey succeeds Guy R. Mazza , who did not seek reappointment. Prior to this appointment, Healey served 11 years with Yankee Energy System Inc.
United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) announced that Joseph Paquette has joined the USEC board of directors, and that William White will not seek re-election upon completion of his term. Paquette served as chairman, president, and CEO of PECO Energy until his retirement in 1997. White did not seek re-election due to a desire to focus on his rapidly growing firm, WEDGE Group, Inc.
