El Paso Corp. announced that Britton White Jr. has retired as executive vice president and general counsel. He was appointed to this position after El Paso acquired Tenneco Energy in 1996. Peggy A. Heeg has been named as his replacement. Heeg previously served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel. She joined Tenneco Energy in 1990 and became vice president and associate general counsel for regulated pipelines for El Paso after the merger. El Paso also announced the retirement of David A. Arledge from its board of directors. Arledge joined the El Paso board following the merger with The Coastal Corp.
Alliant Energy announced that Michael P. Maley has been named president of its unregulated generation group, including the recently announced joint venture with Panda. Maley previously was a vice president at Calpine Corp., where he headed business development for Calpine's central region.
Randall Balhorn has been elected president of DTE Energy's non-regulated subsidiary, DTE Energy Trading. Most recently, Balhorn was vice president of Reliant Energy Europe, in charge of its European energy trading activity. Prior to that, Balhorn was CEO at EDF Trading in London.
Calpine Corp. announced the appointment of Gerald Greenwald to its board of directors. Greenwald is a founding partner of the Greenbriar Equity Group. He recently retired from UAL Corp., where he served five years as chairman and CEO. Calpine also named Lawrence L. Izzo senior vice president. Izzo is responsible for technical support and construction of the company's major natural gas pipelines and other gas infrastructure projects. Izzo recently retired as president and CEO of Enron Engineering and Construction Co.
AGL Resources named Harriette D. Watkins vice president of community affairs. She has been leading the company's community affairs and philanthropic efforts since she joined the company in July 2001. Watkins came to AGL after 20 years with Georgia Power, a division of Southern Company.
Paul Geist, vice president of corporate development for Western Resources, has been named senior vice president and CFO for the company. Geist joined Western Resources in 1999.
Gary W. Edwards , Conoco senior executive vice president, corporate strategy and development, has retired after more than 38 years with the company. He is succeeded by Philip L. Frederickson , who has been vice president for business development since 1998, and is now senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development. Conoco also promoted T.C. Knudson from vice president of human resources to senior vice president of human resources. J. Michael Stinson was appointed senior vice president of government affairs.
Ameren Corporation has named Rick Voytas manager of corporate analysis in its corporate planning function, where he will manage the long-term planning for the company. Voytas joined Ameren, formerly known as Union Electric Company, in 1975 as an assistant engineer. He became supervising engineer of corporate planning in 1995.
Star Gas Partners announced that Ami Trauber has been named CFO, succeeding George Leibowitz , who retired at the end of 2001. Trauber most recently was CFO at one of leveraged buyout specialist Thomas H. Lee's portfolio companies.
