Ann D. Murtlow, a vice president of AES Corp., was named president and CEO of Indianapolis Power & Light Co., and its holding company, IPALCO, a subsidiary of AES. Murtlow has been with AES for more than 15 years.

Avista Corp. announced the nomination of Roy Lewis Eiguren to the company's board of directors. Eiguren is a senior partner at Givens Pursley LLP. In his law practice, he counsels utility companies on regulatory compliance and other matters. Prior to 1984, he worked as special assistant to the administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration.

Kevin P. Madden has been named executive vice president of distribution and pipeline operations for AGL Resources. Madden joined AGL last year from FERC, where he served as general counsel. During his time at FERC, he helped craft and implement several landmark decisions, including Order 2000.

Calpine Corp. has promoted Bill Berligen to president of Calpine Natural Gas Co. He has managed the company's natural gas subsidiary since Calpine acquired Sheridan Energy in 1999. 

Paula Hix has been appointed executive vice president of exploration for Chroma Energy Inc. Prior to this appointment Hix was senior director of technology for Enron Global Exploration & Production. She was chief geophysicist for Enron Oil & Gas Co. from 1993 through 1999. Prior to 1993, she worked in various capacities for the Shell Companies.
