New Opportunities: Duke Energy named Catherine Heigel to the new position of president of its South Carolina service region. She was special advisor to Duke’s chairman. Brett Carter , formerly president of Duke Energy Carolinas, is named Duke’s North Carolina president.
Exelon promoted David C. Brown to senior v.p., federal government affairs and public policy, leading the company’s Washington, D.C., office. Brown led the company’s federal legislative affairs in D.C. since 2000. Joseph Dominguez is promoted to senior v.p. of federal regulatory affairs, from senior v.p. of communications and public affairs. James Firth , senior v.p. of communications, public policy and state government affairs, also assumes leadership of communications. Brad Fewell , formerly associate general counsel for Exelon Generation (EG) is promoted to EG v.p. and deputy general counsel.
Additionally, Exelon promoted Stacie M. Frank to v.p. of investor relations from director of investor relations. Christopher D. Gould is promoted to v.p. of corporate strategy and Exelon 2020 from v.p. of corporate financial planning and analysis. Karie L. El Paso Corp . promoted Susan B. Ortenstone from senior v.p. and chief administrative officer to executive v.p. and CAO. John R. Sult was promoted from senior v.p. and CFO to executive v.p. and CFO.

PPL Corp . promoted Vincent Sorgi , controller of PPL’s supply segment, to v.p. and corporate controller.
Tennessee Valley Authority named Daniel Traynor as v.p. and chief information officer. He was director of infrastructure services at Southern Co. Services.
NRG Energy named Christian S. Schade as executive v.p. and CFO, a position he’ll assume in early May. Schade helped oversee the integration of his former company, the biopharmaceutical concern Medarex, which was acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb for $2.4 billion last year.
The Office of the People’s Counsel (OPC) for the District of Columbia named Brenda K. Pennington as interim people’s counsel to lead the D.C. office. She has spent the last nine years with the OPC.
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) appointed Neil Wilmshurst as v.p. of the nuclear sector. He was EPRI’s director of plant technology.
