CMS Generation Co.'s contract with Thailand's AMATA-EGCO Power Ltd., prompted the promotion of W. David Carni from operations superintendent to operations and maintenance plant manager.

Walter J. Gilbert, Volunteer Energy Corp. v.p., will head the company's newly opened office. Gilbert's added duties include special projects relating to gas acquisition, gas purchasing and marketing.

Utility Partners Inc. hired David Farbrother as CFO. Farbrother joins Utility Partners from International Computer Ltd. in England.

Frank Bentley replaces the retiring Bill Mowatt as president of the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association, Allegheny Electric Cooperative, and Competitive Utility Services Corp.

Nevada Power Co.'s board of directors elected Sally Galati to v.p., distribution. Galati will be responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the company's distribution system.

Daniel Wm. Fessler, former president of the California Public Utilities Commission, has joined the law firm, LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, L.L.P. Fessler will be part of the firm's Worldwide Energy Group.

Mountain Energy Inc. elected Jonathan H. Winer president. Winer replaces the retiring A. Norman Terreri.

Duke Power Co. elected Randy Broome to sales v.p. Broome also serves as the company's energy services general manager.

Martin C. Ruegsegger was promoted from corporate secretary to v.p., corporate counsel and secretary at Piedmont Natural Gas Co.

NUI Corp. hired Linda Lennox, formerly of Providence Energy Corp., as corporate communications and investor relations director.

Karl Gawell became The Geothermal Energy Association's executive director. Prior to joining GEA, Gawell held several senior positions in national renewable energy and environmental organizations.

Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Company promoted Steven L. Bietz

from controller to v.p., administration/ controller. Bietz will be responsible for the company's informations systems, volume management and support services groups.

Deryl Belser, former senior planner for the Atlanta Regional Commission, was hired by Georgia Power as communications specialist. Belser will be responsible for ensuring the inclusion of minority media during crisis situations, media relations activities and updates.

TNP Enterprises Inc.'s board of directors promoted Doug Hobbs as v.p., business development. Hobbs' responsibilities include identifying and evaluating business opportunities.

George Bell, retired senior v.p. from the Bonneville Power Administration, replaces Tom Weaver as an alternate member on the Department of Energy's Permanent Engineering Board. Bell will serve as an advisor on technical and operational issues.

Box Energy Corp. hired James A. Watt, as president/CEO. Watt will be responsible for all day-to-day operations.

Donald C. Hintz, Entergy Operations Inc. president and CEO, was elected to the board of directors of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. In addition to Hintz, eleven other members were elected.

Consolidated Natural Gas Co. hired Joseph H. Petrowski as CNG Energy Services Corp.'s president. Petrowski replaces Stephen E. Williams. Williams, senior v.p. and general counsel, served as interim president.

Commonwealth Edison Co. bid farewell to Cordell Reed, senior v.p., who retired after 36 years. Reed played an important role in shaping ComEd's ethics and diversity policies. Reed will continue to participate as a member of several boards.
