The Electric Power Research Institute in April elected Tennessee Valley Authority chairman Craven Crowell to serve as its chairman. Crowell previously served as chairman of EPRI's Membership and Strategic Issues Committee, and was vice chairman of EPRI's Executive Committee.

Floyd Nickerson, vice president of corporate resources for CSW Energy/ International, has been named state president for Ohio at American Electric Power, effective upon the merger of AEP and Central and South West Corp. Nickerson succeeds Marsha Ryan, who has been named senior vice president of customer operations.

Peter M. Scott III has been named Carolina Power & Light's chief financial officer. Scott is founder of Scott, Madden & Associates, a firm that has advised CP&L on energy matters for two decades.

Malyn Malquist in April resigned as president and chief operating officer of Sierra Pacific Resources Corp. to pursue other opportunities. Malquist also was president of Sierra Pacific Power Co. and Nevada Power Co.

DTE Technologies has named Murray Davis vice president, business strategy and technology. Davis previously worked at Detroit Edison for nearly 35 years, most recently as assistant manager of transmission.

Susan N. Story was named vice president of procurement for Southern Co. The former vice president of corporate real estate and corporate services for Alabama Power replaces Otis Berkhan, who retired May 31.

The board of the Southeastern Electric Exchange has elected Alan J. Noia its president. Noia is chairman, president, and CEO of Allegheny Energy Inc.

Terry McCallister has joined Washington Gas as vice president of operations. McCallister previously served as vice president and director of operations at Southern Natural Gas Co.

Calpine Corp. has promoted Jacob (Jake) M. Rudisill to senior vice president. Previously, Rudisill was vice president for the western region.

Christopher Hocker, vice president of business development and corporate affairs for CHI Energy, was named president of the National Hydropower Association. In addition, NHA named Gregg Carrington of Chelan County PUD its vice president, Phil Dutton of United American Energy Corp. its treasurer, and Diane Lear of Voith Hydro Inc. its secretary.

The U.S. Fuel Cell Council has appointed Gregory Dolan deputy executive director. Dolan joined the Council from the American Methanol Institute, where he was vice president for public affairs.

Charles E. Bayless has joined Hagler Bailly Inc. as a senior advisor. Bayless is the former chairman, president, and CEO of Illinova Corp. and its subsidiary, Illinois Power Co.

Andrew Claxton, former chief executive of The Electricity Pool of England and Wales, has joined Automated Power Exchange Inc. as vice president of strategy and business development for APX's European businesses.

Commodore Gas & Electric named Joseph O. Benacci manager of retail energy markets. Benacci previously spent 10 years with National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp.
