Stephen L. Baum, vice chairman, president, and chief operating officer of Sempra Energy, has been named chief executive officer. Baum succeeds Richard D. Farman, who will remain chairman and a member of Sempra's board until he retires Sept. 1. Baum will then assume the position of chairman.
Otter Tail Power Co. has named John Erickson executive vice president and chief financial officer. He is expected to succeed president and CEO John MacFarlane when MacFarlane retires as early as 2002. Erickson previously was vice president, CFO, and treasurer.
John W. Rowe, chairman, president, and CEO of Unicom Corp., was elected chairman of the Edison Electric Institute in June. Erle Nye, chairman and CEO of TXU Corp., was elected EEI's first vice chairman, and Erroll B. Davis Jr., chairman, president, and CEO of Alliant Energy Corp., was elected second vice chairman.
UtiliCorp United has appointed Leslie J. Parrette senior vice president and general counsel. Parrette joined UtiliCorp in July from the law firm of Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin, where he had chaired the firm's International Practice Group since 1995.
Dynegy Inc. has promoted Louis Dorey to president of energy marketing and origination, and Peter Tellegen to vice president of strategy and planning for Dynegy Marketing and Trade. At Dynegy Global Technology Services, R. Blake Young has been promoted to president, and Maria Anzilotti to vice president of business systems. Dynegy executive vice president John U. Clarke has assumed responsibility for the company's retail businesses, technology, strategic investments, telecom, and branding activities, relinquishing his duties as CFO. Robert D. Doty Jr. succeeds Clarke as CFO. Hugh A. Tarpley has been named senior vice president of Dynegy Strategic Investments. Finally, Deborah Fiorito joined Dynegy as senior vice president and chief communications officer.
Calvert A. Morgan Jr., chairman, president, and CEO of PNC Bank, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of Chesapeake Utilities Corp. Ronald W. Patrick has rejoined Chesapeake Utilities' Sharp Energy as manager of propane and field operations. Patrick previously worked for Sharp Energy from 1988 to 1994 as a district manager. He then worked for Tri-Gas and Oil before rejoining Sharp Energy.
Entergy Operations has hired William R. Campbell, formerly of Duke Engineering and Services, as engineering vice president for its plants in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Campbell will succeed Fred Titus, who will retire at the end of the year. Dan L. Pace has been named vice president of engineering for Entergy Nuclear Northeast. Pace has been with Entergy for 23 years.
Calpine Corp. has promoted Kelly Zelinski to director of human resources. She joined the company in 1995 as human resources administrator. Rick Thomas, a 20-year industry veteran, was promoted to vice president, finance and project development.
Pepco Energy Services has added Eduardo Borroni as vice president, engineering, and Bradley S. Rogers as vice president, industrial development. Borroni brings 14 years of experience with Trigen Energy, ICF Kaiser Engineers, and McCormick Construction/Atlantic Builders Group. Rogers is an entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in global business development. Steven P. Laden, vice president of sales and marketing for Yankee Energy System Inc., has been named vice president of customer support for Northeast Utilities' Retail Business Group. He has been with Yankee since 1996.
Charles R. Fendley has been reelected as chairman of the board of Georgia Transmission Corp. Fendley is director of Amicalola EMC.
GPU Inc. named David Brauer to the new position of president of GPU Telecom Services Inc. Previously, Brauer served as the strategic initiatives vice president.
