Martin Crotty and Dr. Soumen Ghosh joined SeaWest WindPower Inc. as senior vice president of operations and maintenance, and senior product manager of data services, respectively. Most recently, Crotty was director of operations for the Western Region of NRG Energy. Ghosh spent more than five years at ABB System Control and more than nine years at CMC.
Michael T. Tomaino, former partner at the law firm of Nixon Peabody, returned to the firm as senior counsel. Tomaino had been senior vice president and general counsel of Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. until his retirement last July.
North Coast Energy elected Larry J. Risley vice president of exploration and production. Risley spent 23 years with Texaco Inc. before joining North Coast Energy last June as director of operations.
Anuj Arya is the new senior vice president and head of the strategy advisory practice at Lukens Energy Group. Prior to Lukens, Arya was a vice president at A.T. Kearney and a principal at Booz Allen & Hamilton.
Energy-trading software outfit OpenLink appointed Matt Frye managing director of its Houston division. Frye spent the previous seven years with Williams Cos. The company also hired Mack Miller as its channel manager, and Fran Rolon and Ray Sanzone as North American sales managers.
Lehman Brothers announced Joe Sauvage and Frank Napolitano as new group heads in the company's Power Group of its Investment Banking Division. Both men are currently managing directors with the firm.
The Electricity Innovation Institute, a nonprofit affiliate of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), appointed Ellen Petrill program director of the Distributed Energy Resources Public/Private Partnership. Petrill has been with EPRI since 1984.
CMS Energy named Paul A. Stadnikia treasurer of its main subsidiary, Consumers Energy. He has been with CMS Energy and its subsidiaries for more than 20 years.
Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) appointed Michael Zenker director of North American Natural Gas, and it named Philippe A. Frangules and Marie Fagan directors. CERA also named Michael F. Farina associate director.
Jim Horsch is Dynegy's new vice president of internal audit. Horsch previously was corporate comptroller at BJ Services Co. in Houston.
Hullihen Williams Moore was elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Moore has been with the commission since 1992.
Gary Cohen, general counsel for the California Public Utilities Commission, is leaving the PUC to become general counsel to the California Department of Insurance. He will stay with the PUC through completion of the state Supreme Court argument involving the Southern California Edison case and through Chapter 11 proceedings involving PG&E Corp.
Pinnacle West Energy CEO Bill Stewart will retire, effective Dec. 1, 2003, but he will continue to serve on the company's board of directors. Arizona Public Service Executive Vice President of Generation Jim Levine will replace Stewart as CEO of Pinnacle West Energy.
The Associated Press reported that Michelle Marie Valencia was arrested in Houston on federal charges of wire fraud and for reporting 43 fake natural gas trades to the newsletter. The former Dynegy Inc. trader pleaded innocent to the charges.People Editor
