New Positions:

Allegheny Energy named David C. Benson its interim executive vice president, assuming the responsibilities of Allegheny Energy Supply President Michael P. Morrell, who will make use of the company's early retirement option program. Benson has been with Allegheny Energy for 25 years.

Cleco Corp. appointed Stephen M. Carter vice president of regulated generation. Carter earlier served as superintendent of Dolet Hills power station.

AGL Resources named Douglas N. Schantz president of Sequent Energy Management, a subsidiary of the Atlanta-based energy services holding company. Schantz comes to AGL from Cinergy Marketing & Trading, where he was vice president of marketing and business development.

Kevin Bisson is the new senior vice president of American Superconductor. The company appointed Bisson to the position based on his two decades of experience in corporate finance and strategic financial planning. Bisson comes to American Superconductor from Axcelis Technologies, where he was president, controller, and treasurer.

Edward A. Steiger joined Sempra Energy Global Enterprises as its vice president of human resources. Steiger spent the last several years as an executive at Monsanto Co.

Sempra Energy Trading added three vice presidents: Robert Bourne, previously a senior vice president at Coral Energy/Shell Trading; Thomas Heath, also previously with Coral Energy/Shell Trading; and Stephen Daugherty, who spent six years as director of risk products marketing for Coral Energy/Shell Trading.

NRG Energy Inc. put into place a new management team to lead it during its restructuring process. Leonard J. LoBiondo was appointed chief restructuring officer; John R. Boken was named interim president and COO; and Scott J. Davido, NRG's senior counsel, was named chairman of the reconsituted board of directors.

Marvin Odum replaced Carlos Riva as CEO of InterGen. Odum previously was director for the Americas at London-based Shell Gas & Power.

Mollie B. Willford joined the ONEOK board of directors. Williford is chair of The Williford Cos., which include Williford Energy Co.

Gestalt LLC appointed Corbin A. McNeill Jr., the retired chairman and CEO of Exelon Corp., to its board of directors. McNeill also served as chairman, president, and CEO of PECO Energy, prior to its merger with Unicom Corp.

Christopher A. Hilen joined San Francisco-based Davis Wright Tremaine as counsel for the national energy law practice, moving over from the law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP.

Reliant Resources realigned its executive responsibilities, making Stephen W. Naeve vice chairman and Robert W. Harvey executive vice president and group president, wholesale. Naeve was formerly president and COO of Reliant, while Harvey was part of Reliant's retail business.

Cinergy Corp. said Bernard F. Roberts was elected vice president of compliance in the company's finance area, and David L. Wozny would succeed Roberts as Cinergy's comptroller.

Resignations:

Frank J. Becker and Gene A. Budig resigned from the Westar Energy board of directors. Becker cited his desire to spend more time on business and personal interests, while Budig intends to pursue research and writing.

Retirements:

John Light, executive vice president and general counsel at Sempra, will retire at the end of June. Light has been Sempra's general counsel since the company's founding in 1998.

H. Wilson Sundt retired as director of UniSource Energy Corp. and its principal subsidiary, Tucson Electric Power Co. Sundt served on the UniSource board since 1997.

Deceased:

Alan J. Roth, a partner at Spiegel & McDiarmid, died from complications related to Parkinson's disease. Roth practiced energy law at the Federal Power Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the New York Public Service Commission prior to joining Spiegel & McDiarmid.
