
THAINE J. MICHIE, general manager of the Platte River Power authority, was named president of the American Public Power Association. Michie has more than 30 years experience in the electric power industry; he has served on the APPA board since 1990.
Lanny P. Waguespack was chosen to head CMS Gas Transmission and Storage Co.'s new Denver office. He also was named director of business development in the western U.S. for the CMS Energy Corp. unit.
Executives at two subsidiaries of Aquarion Cos. were elected to leadership positions at industry associations. Leendert T. DeJong, vice president and COO of Aquarion Management Services, was elected chair of Connecticut Section American Water Works Association. Charles V. Firlotte, BHC Co. senior vice president and COO, was elected a second-year trustee of the same association. Larry Bingaman, secretary and vice president of corporate relations at BHC, was elected co-chair of the Connecticut Water Works Association.
Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association Inc. has elected Dean Voeks president. Voeks has served as president of Chorus Communications Inc. since 1991, when the company was called Mid-Plains Inc. Robert Hewitt was elected vice president of the association. Hewitt is executive vice president and general manager of Wood County Telephone Co.
South Jersey Industries Inc. has named three vice presidents. Charles Biscieglia will oversee the company's utility operations. David A. Kindlick will manage the company's financial operations. Joseph E. McCullough will direct the SJI's energy market activities. All three have worked for SJI for many years.
Western Fuels Association Inc. has elected its officers. Robert L. McPail, general manager of Basin Electric Cooperative, was reelected president. Also reelected were: L Christian Hauck as vice president, Pierre J. Heroux as secretary-treasurer and Harold J. Thompson as vice secretary-treasurer.
Power Resource Managers has opened a new Vancouver, Wash., office, hiring several executives to oversee it: Michael F. Donnelly as vice president; Ann T. Donnelly as principal consultant; Andrew C. Wetz as senior consultant; and Geoff Carr as manager of economics and rates.
PECO Energy Co. has elected Michael J. Egan senior vice president and CFO. Egan replaces Kenneth G. Lawrence, who was elected senior vice president of the company's local distribution company. Lawrence has been with the company for 28 years; Egan is senior vice president and CFO of Aristech Chemical Corp.
PacifiCorp has hired Steve Lawrence to serve as manager of sales for the eastern U.S. Lawrence most recently managed the New Hampshire electrical pilot for Enron.
James E. McNabb has been named to the board of directors of Georgia System Operations Corp., one of the two new companies Oglethorpe Power Corp. formed earlier this year to enhance operations for electric industry restructuring. McNabb is special assistant to the general manager of Associated Electric Cooperative Inc., which he joined in 1962.
AllEnergy Marketing Co. has elected Tim Bigler vice president of risk management. In his most recent position, Bigler served as senior director of natural gas physical and derivatives products at Gerald Energy.
Scott Castelaz has joined EnCorp Inc. as marketing and sales vice president. Castelaz previously worked for ABB in marketing and sales in power transmission and distribution.
