The Northwest Electric Power Institute, now the Western Electric Power Institute, formerly serving utilities in seven states and three Canadian provinces, has expanded its scope to include public and private utilities in the western half of North America. The Power Institute's new officers include: Robert Gannon of Montana Power Co., chairman; J. Richard Frey of Alberta Power Ltd., chairman elect; Richard G. Reiten of Portland General Electric, vice chairman; and Robert E. Warner of Stone & Webster Engineering Corp., corporate vice chairman. Jacqueline A. Bell of PacifiCorp becomes treasurer and Clifton A. Anderson, president of the Power Institute, becomes secretary.
Tom Kilgore will step down as president and CEO of Oglethorpe Power Corp. to pursue other business opportunities. While he has not yet resigned, Kilgore has asked the board of directors to select his successor. Oglethorpe has also chosen five people to head a new energy pool operating committee: Newton A. Campbell, retired CEO of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co.; Jack A. Casazza, chairman of CSA Energy Consultants; Duejean C. Garrett, an attorney and previous general counsel to Public Service of Indiana; Thomas N. Hand, retired executive manager of the East Central Area Reliability Coordination Agreement; and Royce Lyles, retired CEO of Jacksonville Electric Authority. The pool is a component of agreements that should provide more power-supply flexibility to the company's member systems and interested energy companies. t
Lee C. Jordan, senior v.p. of corporate development at AmeriGas Propane, Inc. has retired. Jordan worked 34 years for the company and its predecessor, Ugite Gas, Inc. Another employee, Annalee C. Bullman, v.p.-human resources, also has resigned.
