Madison Gas and Electric Co. promoted Terry A. Hanson to v.p. and treasurer. Hanson, who joined the company in 1981, had been treasurer.
Connecticut Natural Gas Corp. promoted two executives and hired a third. Douglas Kirk, formerly with Johnson Controls, joins the company as noncore marketing director in the energy services business unit. James P. Bolduc was promoted to executive v.p. and CFO. He was senior v.p.-financial services and CFO. Edna M. Karanian, previously assistant v.p.-energy planning and procurement, was promoted to v.p. of energy procurement and transportation.
William D. Katz was named v.p.-corporate development and Robert H. Knauss was named v.p.-law and associate general counsel at AmeriGas Propane, Inc. Both positions are new. Katz was
v.p.-corporate development and Knauss was group counsel-propane.
Duke Power Co. promoted Raymond A. Jolly, Jr. to senior v.p.-Associated Enterprises Group. He had been deputy general counsel in Duke's legal department.
Steven L. Herndon, a senior attorney, was promoted to hydro relicensing director at Idaho Power.
Southwest Gas Corp. promoted Thomas Sheets to v.p./general counsel. He replaces Thomas Trimble, senior v.p./
general counsel/corporate secretary, who retired.
John E. Moyers is the new nuclear quality assurance director at Detroit Edison's Fermi 2 plant. He comes from Toledo Edison, where he was manager of quality assessments at the Davis Besse plant.
IES Industries, Inc., Interstate Power Co., and WPL Holdings named the top executives of four future Interstate Energy Corp. (IEC) business units and subsidiaries. Eliot G. Protsch, senior v.p. at Wisconsin Power and Light Co., will be president of IES Utilities and IEC executive v.p. of energy delivery. Michael R. Chase, executive v.p. of Interstate Power Co., will be IEC executive v.p. of administration. William D. Harvey, senior v.p. of Wisconsin Power and Light Co., will be president of the company and IEC executive v.p. of generation. James E. Hoffman, executive v.p. of IES Utilities, will be president of the nonregulated holding company and IEC executive v.p. of business development.
Long Island Water Corp. promoted William Ring to executive v.p. and Thomas Huber to v.p., and hired John A. Mirando to fill Ring's previous position as v.p./ manager-engineering. Huber will continue as comptroller of the company and manager of administration. Mirando comes from Jamaica Water Supply Co., where he was v.p. and chief engineer.
The Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. elected new officers: Steven Burton of Sithe Energies, Inc., to his third term as president; Victor Sawicki of Air Products and Chemicals, also to a third term, to v.p.; Mark Comora of Fortistar Capital, to v.p.; and Steven Wolfgram of U.S. Generating Co., to treasurer. J. Douglas Divine of CalEnergy Co. was elected secretary.
Energen's Alabama Gas Corp. named two new officers: Darrell Hand, previously assistant v.p.-Birmingham operations, is now v.p.-state operations. Steve Chapman steps into Hand's post. He was g.m.-Birmingham operations.
The National Hydropower Association (NHA) has hired a governmental affairs director, Shelley Stahl, previously a principal with Capitoline/MS&L. Eric Bonetti, director of government and member relations for the American Public Gas Association, will head NHA's communications, public education, and membership programs.
Charles Crisp, president of Tejas Gas Corp., has been hired by Houston Lighting & Power Co. as executive v.p. and g.m. of its energy production strategic business unit.
Zack T. Pate, president and CEO of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, was elected as the next chairman of the World Association of Nuclear Operators. He will replace current chairman Rémy Carle in May 1997. t
