Philip R. Sharp, former 10-term congressman from Indiana, has been named director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Sharp assumes the position on July 1, succeeding Charles Royer, former mayor of Seattle, WA.

NICOR Inc. has elected Thomas L. Fisher, currently president and COO, to the additional position of CEO. Fisher will continue as president and CEO of Northern Illinois Gas Co., the company's largest subsidiary.

Charles W. Terrill has been named executive vice president of the three corporations that serve North Carolina's cooperatives: North Carolina Electric Membership Corp., North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives, and The Tarheel Electric Membership Association. Previously, Terrill served 10 years at Kansas Electric Power Cooperative Inc., 10 years at Hoosier Energy Rural Electric Cooperative Inc., and 2 years with Public Service Indiana. He is on the board of directors of the Nuclear Energy Institute and president of the Generation & Transmission Managers Association.

Theodore Levitt has retired after 13 years as a director of Pittsburgh-based Consolidated Natural Gas Co. Levitt is the Edward W. Carter Professor of Business Administration, Emeritus, at Harvard's Graduate School of Business Administration.

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners has appointed Craig Glazer of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission to chair the Workgroup on Industry Restructuring. Lawrence Ingram, chairman of the New Mexico Public Utility Commission, was appointed to NARUC's Executive Committee.

Jerry Farrington, chairman and CEO of Texas Utilities Co. since 1987, has stepped down but will remain chairman of the board for two years. He is succeeded as president and CEO by Erle Nye.

Entergy Corp. chairman and CEO

Ed Lupberger has selected John A. Brayman to head the company's expansion into nonregulated, domestic energy, and utility-related businesses. Brayman was president of Ameritech Corp.'s Telephone Industry Services subsidiary in Chicago. William J. Regan, most recently senior v.p.-corporate treasurer of United Services Automobile Association, has joined the company as v.p. and treasurer.

Central and South West Corp. has named A. Dean Fuller president and CEO of Transok, the company's natural gas pipeline and gas marketing subsidiary.

James J. Howard, chairman, president, and CEO of Northern States Power Co., has been elected chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute.

Elias (Lee) C mara succeeds Paul Tarman as president and CEO of M-C Power Corp., effective July 1. Tarman served three years as head of the company, after 35 years with the Institute of Gas Technology.

Stephen E. Frank, most recently president and COO of Florida Power and Light Co., has joined Southern California Edison Co. as president and COO. SCE also appointed Jean Solari manager of its fuels department. Solari has been with the company 10 years.

Tom D. Newland has become president and CEO of The East Ohio Gas Co., replacing William F. Fritsche, Jr., who becomes senior v.p. of distribution at Consolidated Natural Gas Co. David P. Hunt, currently president and CEO of CNG Producing Co., a New Orleans subsidiary, will retire December 1.

Joseph F. Paquette, chairman of PECO Energy Co., was elected chairman of the Edison Electric Institute at EEI's 63rd annual convention.

Minnesota Power chairman, president, and CEO Arend Sandbulte has announced plans to retire in May 1996. No successor has been named yet.

United Cities Gas Co. has elected Adrienne H. Brandon v.p. Brandon has served as controller since 1991 and will continue to hold that position. As v.p. she will oversee financial accounting for the utility and its subsidiaries. Lynn L. Mula was elected v.p. of human resources.

Dr. Forrest J. Remick, former member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and an expert on nuclear engineering and plant operations, has joined the board of directors of Public Service Enterprise Group, Inc. t
