CNG Energy Service Corp. appointed Jeff Johnson senior vice president of integrated energy management. Jerome H. Dortmans was appointed vice president of financial trading and risk management.

Alan Wells was named senior vice president of finance and CFO for MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. and its subsidiary MidAmerican Energy. Wells replaces Phil Lindner who announced his retirement. Wells also will continue to serve as president of the company's nonutility subsidiaries.

Fred D. Hafer assumed office as chairman of the Pennsylvania Electric Association. Hafer is chairman, president and CEO of GPU Inc. Hafer will also serve as chairman of the board of directors of the association.

Duncan Kincheloe, a former utility commissioner, was selected as EPRI director of government and regulatory relations. Kincheloe will work on state regulatory and legislative issues and with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

CBS Corp., formerly Westinghouse Electric Corp., appointed Howard D. Bruschi vice president of science and technology. Bruschi's responsibilities include working with the company's industrial business units to provide technology solutions to commercial and government customers.

Trent Dolan became the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Nevada Public Utilities Commission, replacing Rick Hackman, consumer division director, who served in the position temporarily. Sharon Thomas was promoted to director of regulatory operations at the commission.

George Sladoje is the new executive vice president of the California Power Exchange. Sladoje is a former executive vice president for the Chicago Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade.

Peter E. Doering joined the Power Company of America as vice president, wholesale marketing. Before joining PCA, Doering was vice president of strategic initiatives, for Duke/Louis Dreyfus.

NARUC President Bruce Ellsworth named Russell Frisby chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission to serve on the Universal Service Federal-State Joint Board convened by the Federal Communications Commission. Frisby replaced recent board retiree, Sharon Nelson.

Michael G. Farrell joined Plum Street Energy Marketing as regional sales manager. Previously, Farrell was an account executive with National Fuel Resources.

American Gas Finance Co. appointed Russell I. Wakal president and CEO of the lending services company. Wakal comes to American Gas Finance Co. from his position as president, CEO and founder of Virtual Mortgage Inc.

Scott Shadrach accepted a position with El Paso Energy Marketing, a business unit of El Paso Energy Corp., as managing director of the central region.

Commissioner Maureen O. Helmer was appointed deputy chairwoman of the New York State Public Service Commission. Helmer came to the Department of Public Service in 1995 as general counsel. She was appointed commissioner in May 1997.
