FERC Commissioner Vicky A. Bailey named Robert H. Solomon as her new attorney advisor for electric matters. Solomon has been with the Office of General Counsel since joining FERC in 1988. He has held key positions such as Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Electric Rates and Corporate Regulation.

AmeriGas Propane Inc. announced the election of Richard C. Gozon as director. Gozon will replace Robert C. Forney who recently retired. Gozon is executive vice president of Weyerhaeuser Co. He also serves as a director of UGI Corp., UGI Utilities Inc., AmeriSource Health Corporation and Triumph Group Inc.

The three companies formed in last year's restructuring of Oglethorpe Power Corp. elected its 1998 officers. Oglethorpe Power named J. Calvin Earwood chairman of the board and Benny W. Denham vice chairman. Georgia Transmission Corp. named Charles R. Fendley chairman and Ray Jones vice chairman. Georgia System Operations Corp. chose James E. Estes as chairman and Thomas N. Hand as vice chairman. Tom Kilgore serves as President and CEO of all three companies.

NARUC President Jolynn Barry Butler chose Commissioner Susan F. Clark of the Florida Public Service Commission to represent the National Association of Regulatory Commissioners on the Steering Committee of the National Council on Competition in the Electric Industry. Clark has served as a commissioner with the Florida PSC since her appointment in August 1991.

Mark W. Livingstone joins Sonat Power Marketing L.P. as vice president of marketing. Most recently, Livingstone served as vice president of power marketing for TransCanada Energy Ltd.

Bill Cook was named marketing director of the Electric Power Research Institute. Before joining EPRI, Cook served as director of product management for Ameritech. Cook's responsibilities in this new position include the assessment of potential markets and the development of product and service marketing strategies.

The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations elected James T. Rhodes chairman and CEO. Rhodes, former president and CEO of Virginia Power, succeeds Zack T. Pate who recently retired.

David Tuft joins The National Hydropower Association as manager of public affairs. Tuft will be responsible for promoting the organization's legislative and public affairs initiatives to the news media, as well as shaping NHA's internal communications. Prior to joining NHA, Tuft worked to develop public communication strategies in political campaigns.

Carolina Power & Light's board of directors elected Rob Caldwell vice president of CP&L's Strategic Planning Department. Previously, Caldwell was CFO and COO for SEMCO Energy Inc.

Joan Dreskin joins the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America as general counsel. Prior to joining INGAA, Dreskin worked in the Office of General Counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission since 1988.
