American National Power announced three executive changes: Joseph E. Cofelice, senior v.p., was given the added post of COO; Jim Murray, senior v.p., was given additional duties of CFO; and David L. Coke, director-asset optimization, was promoted to operations v.p.
Peter W. Delaney, a cost-cutting commissioner in the New York Office of General Services, was appointed senior v.p.-business services at the New York Power Authority. The Authority also promoted Gerard V. Loughran, a principal attorney, to v.p.-human resources.
The Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) elected Roger A. Young as chairman. Young is chairman and CEO of Bay State Gas Co. He'll also be ex officio chairman of the IGT board's executive committee. In other business, IGT elected 18 trustees and reelected its officers (em Bernard S. Lee, president; James E. Dunne, secretary; and Daniel L. Popp, treasurer.
Florida Public Service Commissioner Julia L. Johnson was reappointed to a second four-year term, starting this month.
Arthur C. Marquardt was elected by the Connecticut Natural Gas Corp. board to president and COO. He comes from Long Island Lighting Co. where he was senior v.p. of the gas business unit.
The executive v.p. of Southern Natural Gas Co., L. David Mathews, was elected chairman of The INGAA Foundation, Inc. Mathews succeeds John R. Phillips, senior v.p. of Berg Steel Pipe. Named vice chair was Stewart Shea, III, president of Bayou Pipe Coating.
An expansion prompted Duke/Louis Dreyfus to name a six-member management team, with members pulled from within company ranks: Dan Finn will serve as president and CEO; Simon Rich will be managing director and COO; and Rhem Wooten will work as managing director and executive v.p. for marketing/ sales. Also, Paul Addis will be executive v.p.-product development, risk analysis and strategy; Joe Petrowski, will be executive v.p.-natural gas and electricity trading; and Cliff Wald will be executive v.p.-risk management analysis and operations.
Mary Jane Willier, formerly with Bell Atlantic Corp., joined Sierra Pacific Power Co. as human resources v.p.
An advisor to the Electric Power Research Institute was hired as industrial account manager for EPRI's industrial and agricultural business unit. Charles L. Tremel will work with utilities to help them use the unit's products and services.
Rochester Gas & Electric Corp. has elected to its board the dean of the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester. Charles I. Plosser, Ph.D., is the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics and Public Policy; he also sits on the Shadow Open Market Committee.
When the proposed merger with El Paso Energy Corp. is completed, Stephen D. Chesebró, Tenneco Energy chair/CEO, is set to leave. William A. Wise, chairman, president and CEO of El Paso Energy, will head the joined enterprise.
Sun Chun, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center, was named senior executive advisor for the DOE's Office of Fossil Energy in Washington, DC. The DOE also promoted Rita A. Bajura to head the Federal Energy Technology Center, which combined the centers in Pittsburgh and Morgantown, WV. Bajura had been senior manager of the Morgantown center.
QST Communications, Inc., a CILCORP, Inc. subsidiary, hired Ashley E. Bowden as COO. Bowden comes from Westminster Bank USA, where he was v.p. of non-branch banking, and prior to that, Sprint International.
American Gas Finance Co. (GasFinCo), a new, for-profit company that will use FannieMae capital to make consumer loans for energy-efficiency improvements, has picked a chairman: Laurence Downes, also chair of New Jersey Resources and New Jersey Natural Gas. Downes sits on the American Gas Association board. GasFinCo investors are AGA-member local natural gas distribution companies.
Richard E. Disbrow, former chairman and CEO of American Electric Power, died at age 66. Disbrow joined AEP Service Corp. in 1954 and became chairman and CEO of the parent company in 1992. He retired May 1, 1993. He had worked for the company for 38 years. t
