E.ON Solar Completes the Maricopa West Facility Located in Southern California

E.ON Solar, a subsidiary of E.ON SE, completed the construction phase of Maricopa West, a 20-MW solar project located in Southern California. The complex has obtained a conditional use permit from Kern County, an incidental take permit from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a habitat conservation plan under Section 10 of the Endangered Species Act from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Maricopa West solar project will utilize single-axis tracking and consist of 89,000 photovoltaic panels.

E.ON Solar, a subsidiary of E.ON SE, announced that Maricopa West, a 20-MW solar project in Kern County, California, has entered the construction phase. Maricopa West occupies land in Southern California purchased by E.ON Solar from Maricopa Orchards. The solar park will utilize a single-axis tracking system and consist of 89,000 PV panels. It will be fully operational later this year.

sPower Purchases Nearly 162MW Beacon Solar Projects from Hecate Energy

sPower, developed an agreement with Hecate Energy, a leading power developer, to develop and own/operate solar PV projects. The first joint initiative is the sale to sPower of a 162-MW portfolio comprised of three projects named Beacon 1, Beacon 3 and Beacon 4. The utility scale projects, near Mojave, Calif., in Kern County, will be designed and built by Hecate, then jointly owned and operated by sPower and Hecate. Groundbreaking is scheduled for Q3 2015, with COD from March to July 2016.

SunEdison Closes on 20 MW Adobe Solar Facility in California

SunEdison interconnected a 20-MW AC solar plant in Kern County, California. The project, known as the Adobe Solar Facility, is owned by Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy and is composed of 80,000 SunEdison Silvantis Solar PV modules. SunEdison was responsible for building the Adobe facility, and will provide asset management and 24/7 monitoring and maintenance services through its renewable operations center.

Duke Energy Renewables Acquires Two Solar Projects From Infigen Energy

Duke Energy Renewables acquired two 20-MW AC California solar projects from renewable energy developer Infigen Energy. The Pumpjack and Wildwood Solar Power Projects, located in Kern County near Bakersfield, represent Duke Energy Renewables' third and fourth utility-scale solar power projects in the state. The solar energy generated from the two projects will be sold through 20-year PPA with Southern California Edison.

Southern Power and Partner Turner Renewable Energy to Acquire California Solar Plant

Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power acquired the company's second solar PV installation in California – the 20-MW Adobe Solar Facility – in partnership with Turner Renewable Energy. The Southern Power-Turner Renewable Energy partnership's sixth solar project acquisition is expected to close upon the successful completion of construction, which is anticipated in spring 2014. The Adobe Solar Facility will be built, operated and maintained by SunEdison.
