Philip Carroll Jr. returned to ScottishPower as a non-executive director. According to the Comtex News Network, Carroll left ScottishPower earlier in 2003 to assist with the rebuilding of infrastructure in post-war Iraq.

Chesapeake Utilities hired Joe Steinmetz as its director of Internal Audit. Steinmetz served in the same position with Dover Downs Gaming & Entertainment Inc. and Dover Motorsports Inc. from 2001 to 2003 before being promoted to assisted controller.

NRG Energy Inc. appointed David W. Crane president and CEO. Crane had been with London-based International Power since 2000.

American Electric Power (AEP) chose Joseph N. Jensen as site vice president responsible for AEP's Cook Nuclear Plant. Jensen previously was plant manager at Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers, Wis.

UBS AG hired Stephen Trauber as vice chairman of investment banking, Reuters reported. Trauber previously was with Morgan Stanley. Ken Cruz, former head of energy and utility banking at UBS AG, will now focus exclusively on the utility side of the business.

Xcel Energy promoted Richard Kelly to president and COO. He was formerly vice president and CFO. Benjamin G.S. Fowke III replaced Kelly as CFO. Fowke had been serving as Xcel's vice president and treasurer.

Calpine Corp. promoted William Highlander to vice president of public relations. He joined Calpine as director of public relations in 1999.
