New Opportunities: Portland General Electric (PGE) announced Maria M. Pope as senior v.p. of finance, CFO and treasurer. She fills the position vacated by Jim Piro who became CEO and president on Jan. 1, 2009. Pope has served on the utility’s board since 2006 but resigned at year-end 2008. PGE also announced the election of Dinyar Mistry as v.p., internal audit, and Jane Yura as v.p., regulation and rates.

Hawaiian Electric Co. named Richard M. Rosenblum president and CEO, replacing T. Michael May who stepped down in August 2008. Rosenblum was senior v.p. of generation at Southern California Edison.

UniSource Energy named Paul J. Bonavia as its chairman, president and CEO. Bonavia was president of the utilities group at Xcel Energy.

Midwest ISO announced John H. Bear, currently president and COO, will succeed T. Graham Edwards as CEO. Edwards will serve as president emeritus through a transition ending April 1.

Avista Utilities named Dennis Vermillion its new president.
