Generation

Strata Solar built three ground-mounted PV installations in North Carolina, using REC modules.

Consumers Energy filed for approval of a certificate of necessity with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) for a new 700-MW natural gas fired combined-cycle power plant in Genesee County, about 20 miles northeast of Flint. MPSC’s review process is expected to take nine months. The current project schedule calls for construction to begin in 2014 with startup in 2017.

Dong Energy, E.ON, and Masdar marked the official inauguration of London Array, a 630-MW operational offshore wind farm in Margate, Kent (U.K.). Siemens supplied 175 wind turbines and grid connections, and will provide service under a long-term agreement with Dong Energy. 

Phoenix Solar signed a contract with Silicon Ranch to build the Simon Solar Farm, 38.6-MW, 161-acre solar plant in Georgia. Under the terms of the contract, Phoenix Solar will provide engineering, procurement, and construction services and long-term operations and maintenance support for the solar park. Georgia Power will buy the electricity generated from the solar park under a 20-year agreement with Silicon Ranch. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013.
