Pat Hudson and Ryan Laruwe
Pat Hudson is manager of the Smart Grid section of the Michigan Public Service Commission. Ryan Laruwe works in the Energy Operations Division.
PUF: Pat, tell us about your role in the Commission and in distribution.
Pat Hudson: I'm the manager of the Smart Grid section. It's that interplay of a more intelligent, digitized grid. A lot of the focus is in the end use of the meters. But the focus certainly seeps into distribution application as well.
Ryan is leading up more of this distribution focus with the two largest utilities. They're supplying their five-year plans to us. We're trying to have a little better vision going out short-term to long-term with them.
I consider us support Staff to that effort. There are some interesting things happening in the smart grid that dovetail into distribution applications.
