Regional transmission organizations and independent system operators are charged with integrating renewable resources and other low-carbon resources into the grid. This panel at NARUC's Summer Policy Summit on July 21, 2020 examined the role of these resources and natural gas on the electric grid from an electric grid operational perspective.

Co-moderated by Ethan Kimbrel, Commissioner, Illinois Commerce Commission, and Talina Mathews, Commissioner, Kentucky Public Service Commission. The panel included Manu Asthana, CEO, PJM Interconnection, John Bear, CEO, MISO, Richard Dewey, CEO, NYISO, Mark Rothleder, Vice President, Market Policy and Performance, California ISO, and Anne George, Vice President External Affairs, Corporate Communications, ISO New England.

Illinois Commerce Commission, Commissioner Ethan Kimbrel: It's my pleasure to be co-moderating this important panel with Commissioner Mathews from Kentucky who also happens to be the President of the Organization of PJM States of which I'm an Illinois representative. This afternoon's panel will discuss the role of natural gas in the energy transition, specifically how grid operators view the role of natural gas in a clean energy grid.
