Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission Commissioner Sarah Freeman is seen everywhere. She sits on the NARUC Board of Directors, chairs its Subcommittee on Education and Research, and is a member of the NARUC Committee on Telecommunications. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Universal Service Administrative Company, Chairs the MISO Advisory Committee, and is a member of the EPRI Advisory Council. Freeman is Treasurer of the MARC Conference and Immediate Past President of the Organization of MISO States.

PUF's Paul Kjellander, a NARUC past President, sat down with Commissioner Freeman, who brings home the importance of NARUC's Subcommittee on Education and Research.

PUF's Paul Kjellander: As Chair of the NARUC Subcommittee on Education and Research, you're automatically a member of the NARUC Board of Directors. This Subcommittee has eight members, with three on the Executive Committee in line to become Presidents of the Association. How important is this Subcommittee to the Association?

Commissioner Sarah Freeman: It's important. Education is the mission of NARUC. When I was first given the opportunity to Chair the Subcommittee on Education and Research, I was beyond honored, given the importance of the Committee to the organization.

That's also evidenced by its membership. You don't load a Committee with three consecutive NARUC presidents-to-be unless you value its output.
