NARUC President Julie Fedorchak established a fifteen-month initiative to better harmonize the gas and electric industries to improve reliability. The initiative, Gas-Electric Alignment for Reliability or GEAR, will be Chaired by Georgia Commissioner Tricia Pridemore, NARUC First Vice President, and convene state regulators and industry representatives.

GEAR will recommend actions to address issues identified in various reports, including: the NAESB Gas-Electric Harmonization Forum; the Reliability Alliance Report developed by NGSA, INGAA, and EPSA; NERC's Winter Reliability Assessment; and FERC's analyses of Storms Uri and Elliott.

Fedorchak also appointed New Hampshire Commissioner Carleton Simpson as Vice Chair and at-large members Arizona Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson, Michigan Chair Daniel Scripps, Minnesota Chair Katie Sieben, and Texas Commissioner Jimmy Glotfelty.

The Working Group will be joined by individuals representing industry: NiSource SVP Gas & Electric Technical Services and Asset Risk Management William Mojica, National Grid Group Head of Regulatory Strategy Mike Calviou, PJM SVP of Operations Mike Bryson, TC Energy President US Natural Gas Pipelines Tina Faraca, NRG Head of Competitive Markets and Policy Chris Moser, Kinder Morgan VP Gas Control East Rob Perkins, and ConocoPhillips Director of Commercial NG Regulatory Affairs Ben Schoene.
