Once that occurs, the OT data can be more useful for the energy and utilities industry. It made sense to turn to a company that manages about forty percent of the world's transmission networks and thirty percent of the world's distribution networks, to find out what the data can do.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: Let's start by talking about some of the big data challenges that the energy sector is currently facing, and why they are so important today?
Mahesh Sudhakaran: Today we can't just focus on big data — we have to look at energy data more broadly. When you talk about energy data, often this conversation excludes operational technology (OT) data — the data that comes from the applications that operate the grid at all utilities.
