American consumers paid 51.2 times more in Q4 2023 for electricity than in Q4 1959 (when this data was first reported). Adjusting for population growth, they paid 20.6 times more per household.

Of course, households use considerably more electricity now than back in the Eisenhower years.

But, consumers paid 58.5 times more for everything in total (all goods and services). And they paid 23.5 times more per household.
