Affordable Resilience

It was on the sidelines of Edison Congress 2025 that Public Utilities Fortnightly's Steve Mitnick talked on camera with Steve Tompkins of Osmose Utilities Services. About how the previously staid world of vegetation management has become data-driven, modeled, and transformed into a high-tech science of strengthening what can be strengthened, all to the benefit of utility customer affordability.

The iconic wood pole has apparently morphed to a range of options. Including reinforced and life-extended, replaced with steel or concrete, and undergrounded. To keep the power flowing through ferocious storms and wildfires too, at the lowest cost to customers.

So check out this vid of Steve M talking with Steve T. In well under six minutes you'll be an expert, almost, on the future of utility poles in the second quarter of the twenty-first century.
