Light Up Navajo is a mutual aid project launched in 2019 by the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority with the American Public Power Association to connect homes without electricity under an expedited time frame. The NTUA service territory is 27,000 square miles, spreading across northern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and a small portion of southeastern Utah. PUF is shining light on this ongoing project, which is seeking energy and utility companies to take part in Light Up Navajo, also providing financial assistance, in coming years.

“This research is the first to estimate the price impact of new load from data centers using a causal methodology. The study concludes that, on average, data centers put downward pressure on residential electricity rates during the period analyzed.”

“The energy industry is moving beyond innovation for innovation’s sake. We’re entering a period where success will be measured less by the technologies we deploy and more by how effectively we integrate them into the way we plan, operate, and regulate the electric system.”

“Root cause analysis in incident response is more complicated as industrial automation grows. New scenarios need to be blended by the planning team to incorporate thinking and questioning as to what might be possible and what an adversary would have to do to attack the water system.”

From September 21–24, 2026, the global energy regulatory community will gather in Tbilisi, Georgia, for WFER IX under the theme “When Balance Is Achieved.”

“The opportunity now is to make Wildfire Mitigation Plans more understandable, comparable, and evaluator-friendly, much as integrated resource and transmission plans became over time.”
