Kjellander Calls: Pennsylvania PUC Chair, Indiana Commissioner

Deck:

State Commissions

Fortnightly Magazine - August 2023

Public Utilities Fortnightly highlights here two Commissioners who likely don't need introductions because those involved in NARUC know their names, as they seem to be everywhere. They deserve recognition for their many contributions to the public interest, too numerous to mention here.

Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission Chair Gladys Brown Dutrieuille, who just finished her term as MACRUC President, appears to be always at work, and that hard work is noticed. Most recently by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Public Utility Law Section, which presented its Christianson Award to her June 1, in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the development, improvement, and advancement of the profession of public utility law.

Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission Commissioner Sarah Freeman is another hard worker, also seen everywhere. She sits on the NARUC Board of Directors, chairs its Subcommittee on Education and Research, and is a member of the NARUC Committee on Telecommunications. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Universal Service Administrative Company, Chairs the MISO Advisory Committee, and is a member of the EPRI Advisory Council. Freeman is Treasurer of the MARC Conference and Immediate Past President of the Organization of MISO States.

PUF's Paul Kjellander, a NARUC past President, sat down with both leaders, as Chair Dutrieuille looks forward to a new future, and Commissioner Freeman brings home the importance of NARUC's Subcommittee on Education and Research. There is much to dig into.
