PUF navigates affordability in conversations with Consumer Advocates from NASUCA, also featuring a Roundtable Discussion on this important topic.

I am grateful for the advocates who work on behalf of consumers like me, often without us ever knowing their names. And I am grateful for the people across this industry who make that possible. Utilities working to deliver reliable service that is designed to be as affordable as possible. Advocates working to make sure the decisions behind those bills hold up.

“EPRI’s Wind Network for Enhanced Reliability starts with a simple premise: the wind industry has data, but there’s no standardization across companies. WinNER provides access to anonymized wind turbine reliability data with fleet, turbine model, system- and component-level specificity, so reliability can be benchmarked and addressed.”

“There is no single right path into energy leadership, but there is real value in leaders who have seen the system from multiple angles. That is not just a lesson for Women’s History Month. It is a lesson for the future of the energy sector.”

“Clearly, attracting younger generations to the water and wastewater industries is going to require a rebranding that underscores reinforcing public educational awareness as to the crucial role of water in public health and community development.”

“Historically, Section 202(c) was used sparingly. More recently it has emerged as an active tool to address reliability as large load growth, infrastructure constraints, and weather volatility have placed sustained pressure on regional systems.”

“Regulators are grappling with how to address new large load growth and ensure fairness and affordability. What models stand out as best practices for ensuring new large loads are integrated while addressing affordability and customer impacts?”

“State Commissions sit at this intersection of the federal requirements, local concerns, and project reality. Where does the permitting system break down in what the state regulators control and where do states already do well?”

“I look forward to hearing about the ways your state, industries, and companies are addressing how to overcome silos to share resources and resilient practices, communicate across sectors, and coordinate and prioritize restoration. We can then take these lessons home.”

“Our mission now is to reduce the time it takes to reach infrastructure investment decisions. That is not just a technical problem, it is a human one. Trust, culture, and alignment matter just as much as the tools themselves.”
