Cheryl W. Gris´e was promoted to senior vice president, secretary and general counsel for Northeast Utilities and its subsidiaries. She replaces Robert P. Wax, who left NU to return to private law practice.

Houston Industries Trading and Transportation Group appointed Patrick J. Strange vice president, physical gas trading east division for NorAm Energy Services Inc. Strange joined the company in 1995, serving as director of gas trading.

DTE Energy Trading named Dowell Hudson director, business development and wholesale marketing. Jack Sullivan was named senior energy trader and Susan Whitener, power marketer. Most recently, Hudson worked in the power system operations and wholesale marketing departments of Entergy Corp. Prior to joining DTE Energy Trading, Sullivan worked as director of trading and operations at MidCon Power Services. Whitener will be leaving the Michigan Electric Power Coordination Center to join DTE Energy Trading.

Keith McKennon succeeds Fred Buckman as CEO of PacifiCorp. McKennon also is company chairman, a position he has held since 1994.

Douglas T. Lake was appointed executive vice president and chief strategic officer for Western Resources. Since 1995, Lake has been with Bear Stearns as a senior investment banker.

Entergy Operations named Michael Kansler vice president of operations support. Kansler comes to Entergy from Virginia Power where he was vice president of its nuclear program.
