AEIC's Meter & Service Committee met April 2 - 5, 2017 with the EEI Metering Committee in a jointly planned three-day opportunity. The goal was to share the latest information on metering systems and applications in the electric energy field. The agenda was shared by both association groups.

AEIC's half of the meeting was led by Ken Dimpfl of AEP and Mark Leach of Southern Company, and included reports by Jim DeMars of FPL, leading the Best Business Practices Issue team, and Derl Rhoades of Alabama Power, leading the Advanced Meter Technology Issue Team.

AEIC's agenda offered a wide variety of topics, including "Lessons Learned from a Major Airline Worldwide Service Outage" and "Capabilities and Testing Methods of Streetlight Metering," presented by manufacturers, and a "Journey to PrePay," presented by AEP's Public Service Company of Oklahoma.

The first day's afternoon session included a panel discussion on In-Service Meter Testing, with Eduardo Niezen of Florida Power & Light, Derl Rhoades of Alabama Power and Robert Ardren of Minnesota Power. The two groups also heard a presentation on "Securely Deploying and Managing Remote Devices."
