PUF's Steve Mitnick: Tell us about your involvement in GridWise Alliance and how that helps the industry and your company?

Scott Prochazka: I've been involved in GridWise for about six years as a board member. I've served in the current role of chair for a couple of years, and previously served as vice chair. It's a unique organization that strives to pull together multiple players representing diverse perspectives in the energy value chain.

Its members include utilities, third-party providers, and academia. We also include regulators and elected officials to enhance the understanding of the collective integrated elements needed to modernize our grid for the future.

Its unique mix of members demonstrate the level of diversity I just described. As a result, we talk about ideas in a coordinated fashion, such as how do you prepare the grid for electric transportation.

To generate the right conversations, we bring multiple parties to the table. As new opportunities arise, our membership may evolve. We're involved with the different parties throughout the entire electric ecosystem, which is a unique and critical characteristic of our Alliance.

We also do policy work. GridWise staff and our members have strong relationships with federal, state and local policy makers. Those relationships help us educate them on the benefits of grid modernization.
