Lori Burkhart, Alexandra Revel and Liz Stipnieks of the PUF team were attending November's NARUC Annual Meeting in Orlando and connected with the inspiring CEO of the largest investor-owned water utility, Susan Story. Many there have known her from the days she was a senior exec of the electric utility Southern Company. Story is a regular at NARUC events recognizing the need of the water industry to communicate more with regulators and the entire utility community on priorities like cybersecurity, infrastructure investment, innovation, customer focus, digitization and safety. Here's an excerpt from Burkhart's interview with this water industry leader.

PUF's Lori Burkhart: What brings you to NARUC?

Susan Story: This is the premiere event for regulators and utilities around the country to get together and share best practices and the latest trends to help utilities serve customers better. It's a great way for people to come together and discuss what our customers need, what are the challenges, and what we can learn from each other to make sure that these critical services are provided across the U.S. Sharing ideas is a great best practice and you see that when you attend the committee meetings and hear all the great information the speakers and audiences discuss.
