The humongous Electrification 2018 in Long Beach was awesome. Any of the two thousand of us that attended will attest to this. But we're talking electrification. So much has been accomplished in the year-plus since Long Beach. And the opportunities before us have more than flourished since then. So, what to do? 

In just three months from now, the ginormous Electrification 2020 will take on this central challenge of our times of our industry, to the Nth power. So promises Arshad Mansoor. He should know. Mansoor has just become the president of the Electric Power Research Institute and it's convening the conference this April in Charlotte.

You gotta be there this April. Commercial break: go to the electrification2020.com website and register, like now. Well, perhaps after you finish reading this issue of PUF. Three thousand of your closest friends in utility regulation and policy will be there.

In the following interview with the new EPRI president, Mansoor goes through the most important topics in electrification. And he of course explains the 6 - 5 - 4 - 1 concept that simply captures the nation's progress and path ahead for de-carbonization. Frankly it resonates with me as much as the classic Chicago hit, 25 or 6 to 4, which is saying a whole lot.
