It's always fascinating hearing from those who are doing the hard work in the utility world of implementing the latest and greatest in technology innovation, and in this case, it just happens to be what you will be hearing about at Electrification 2020. Here we have two experts from opposite sides of these vast United States. Sacramento Municipal Utility District and Tennessee Valley Authority, who both are diligently focused on electrification as key parts of their decarbonization strategies.

East meets west, and in this case, cleaner air is something we all can agree on.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: What is your role?

Paul Lau: I'm the chief grid strategy and operations officer at SMUD. I'm responsible for developing resource and operations strategies for the whole company, taking a holistic view to consider everything from beyond the meter, like electric vehicles, PV, storage, and energy efficiency, to our power supply contracts.

My area of responsibility includes integrated resource planning, transmission and distribution planning and operations, power contracts and trading, R&D, and new business development.
