PUF's Steve Mitnick: What's your job at Hawaiian Electric?

Alan Oshima: I'm president and CEO and oversee five islands. Ninety-five percent of Hawaii's electricity comes from our company.

The job is to look out for our customers' interests, balance it with shareholder interests, and make sure employees are safe in conducting business. We're highly regulated, as many utilities in the U.S. are. That's the space we work in.

This has been an unexpected part of my life. I never thought I'd be doing this. I'm an attorney.
