The PUF team was warmly welcomed by those energy stalwarts charged with drafting and implementing Governor Phil Murphy's Energy Master Plan at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. 

It's serious work, but it's fun too, as you will hear Staff attest. And the New Jersey BPU is big, with some two hundred and twenty-five Staff, because in 2003 it established the Office of Clean Energy to help administer its programs. Talk about forward thinking. 
 

PUF: You've held elected office. Talk about that and what it means for your work here at the Board.

Commissioner Gordon: It was excellent preparation for the work we do here, but the other aspects of my career, including my private sector career and some of the education I've had, have also been very helpful. But to respond to your question, I held office in the Legislature for fourteen years in what was probably one of the most competitive districts in the state.

Before that, I spent ten years on my municipal council, as mayor and a council member. And when you have an experience like that, you become sensitive to the needs of your constituents.
