Alaska Consumer Advocate Jeff Waller: To make this a little more fun, I wrote a song about the digital divide. It's called the Digital Divide Blues.

Let me tell you a story 'bout the digital divide

Some say its small, but Covid showed it's wide

There's some schools where every kid's gotta laptop, & that's really neat

But some families gotta chose between an ipad or whether they eat

Its from my head down to my shoes!

I said, "Hey, lawdy mama,

Looks like you got them digital divide blues!"

Your thinkin' everybody in the nation is getting broadband

But we see that not everyone has access across this great land

We're hoping to provide the bandwidth so they can run the latest apps

But only if the high cost support actually fills all those gaps

I'm not really sure why, but I feel it down to my shoes, ahhh

Well, hey nonny nonny,

Looks like I got them digital divide blues!"

- one last verse, now -

We've got parents telecommuting and kids distance learning

You may look at that and say there's nothing too concerning

But not every parent has the time to work and to school each child

Some kids will be left behind and most people aren't even getting riled
