Itron Utility Week 2020 went virtual this year for empowering innovation to drive the industry forward, as attendees were treated to experts on new ways to solve problems, improve operations and redefine the utility and smart city landscape. That means there was a lot to take in only in a week.

It seems like everyone was there, kicked off with a keynote by CPS Energy CEO Paula Gold-Williams and Itron CEO Tom Deitrich, also holding a fireside chat on innovation and community partnerships. That set the tone for a not-to-be-missed conference.

The PUF team was there, and brings you excerpts from an empowering and educational time well spent with industry experts. Here is to hope that next year we all are meeting at Itron Utility Week 2021 in person and enjoying hearing more on the latest and greatest.
 

Itron's CEO Tom Deitrich: Essential workforces, such as ours, have continued to deliver safe, reliable electricity, water, and gas upon which our communities are built. It is the spirit to work together to tackle large challenges that is the theme of Itron Utility Week 2020.

As we move into our new normal, there are three macro trends that are increasingly challenges and opportunities for our industry. Let me start with environmental. Here we need not look further than the dramatic increase in natural disasters that are happening around the globe.
