PUF talked to these humble members of the NYPA workforce, a diverse group of strategic thinkers leading the way to plan and implement VISION2030 and beyond.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: What is your role at the New York Power Authority?

Nancy Harvey: I lead the Office of Civil Rights and Inclusion, which is dedicated to ensuring employees from all walks of life are seen, valued, and heard. Formed in 2017, this Office drives a policy focused on accountability, transparency, and education. In addition, it oversees the affirmative action governance of compliance complaints and investigations, reasonable accommodations requests, and guidance of policy.

With six employee resource groups (ERGs) — Multicultural, Women in Power, Pride in Power, Generations, Veterans, and ECO Team — employees are encouraged to act as diversity champions by partnering with OCRI to plan initiatives, engage in community outreach, and highlight high-achieving employees from diverse backgrounds. Employees are encouraged to use their voice and help to establish business functions and policies that are equitable and encourage fairness.
