The pandemic didn't stop these luminaries from the energy and utilities space from innovating in all types of technologies. Ninety individuals sprang into action, creating new tools or strategies to better serve their colleagues and communities. This year, PUF is celebrating these ninety Under Forties.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: You're the executive director of rates. Talk about your job and what you do on a typical day.

Kristjana Kellgren: I'm fairly new to the role and no two days look the same yet. It's an exciting time to be working at the Commission. We're going through a lot of change. It's inspiring and overwhelming.

I joined the Commission a number of years ago from private practice as a lawyer. I had appeared before the Commission as an advocate. Then, in my role as legal counsel for the Commission, I was responsible for providing primarily legal advice on rate-related proceedings for a few years before I pivoted and joined the rates division as director of one of the groups within rates, which is the electric and gas distribution group.

I took that position and led a fantastic team that works primarily on performance-based regulation of gas and electric distribution utilities. That was a challenge and an opportunity. All of this led to my stepping into the executive director role in November of last year.
