The pandemic didn’t stop these luminaries from the energy and utilities space from innovating in all types of technologies. Ninety individuals sprang into action, creating new tools or strategies to better serve their colleagues and communities. This year, PUF is celebrating these ninety Under Forties.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: Tell me about your job at San Diego Gas & Electric, and also SoCalGas. What do you do in a typical day?

Shivani Sidhar: I'm the Director of Regulatory Affairs for two separate utilities that are sister utilities under the parent company Sempra Energy. I am in a unique position to learn about the new and evolving ways we are going to reach our sustainability goals from the gas 'company's perspective, and from an electric company perspective — two distinctly different companies racing toward the same goals in California. It makes for a busy day.

PUF: Your company recently announced strong decarbonization goals.

Shivani Sidhar: Yes. Both companies are committed to a decarbonization platform and we approach it in three-prongs: decarbonization, digitization, and diversification. How each company gets there may be slightly different given potential policies and business strategies, but both companies see those three pillars as the key to their sustainability strategy.
