The American Association of Blacks in Energy held its Fall Policy Summit 2021: Promoting and Advancing Communities of Color Through Inclusive Energy Policy, October 19-20, 2021. The PUF team was there at this virtual event with its outstanding line-up of speakers and panelists.

Environmental justice is a key policy objective pursued by the Biden Administration as it looks to implement equity principals throughout government agencies. It's also to ensure federal agencies work with states and local communities to deliver at least forty percent of the overall benefits from federal investments in climate and clean energy to disadvantaged communities. This CEO trade association panel discussed the implications within the energy sector. Enjoy these excerpts.
 

Moderator and VP, National Grid, Aaron Choo: We want to talk about the pathway to achieving an equitable energy transition. There's been a lot of policy with the new administration, especially Justice40. 

How do we take those investments and embed at least forty percent of that investment into underserved communities? It's fairly new and things are still fluid, so we don't have enough data yet as to how that will play out. The panel could help give insight on how we prepare for it, and what are we trying to solve? What policy are we trying to implement?
