Decarbonization is the order of the day, which brings intermittency, which brings the need for energy storage. Enter the Gas Technology Institute with a new white paper, Gas and Electricity Storage Systems, which addresses the growing interest in energy storage systems, driven in part by the potential role of such storage systems in helping manage intermittency challenges with renewable energy.

PUF knew our readers would want to know more about the role of gas storage today. Two authorities on the subject from the Gas Technology Institute, sat down with PUF to dig into the latest information. Listen in as GTI's Mike Rutkowski and Bill Liss highlight the attributes and more of these important energy storage systems.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: GTI just put out a white paper about storage. Talk about that and how GTI fits into the decarbonization challenge and grid transformation around storage.

Mike Rutkowski: When we look across our integrated energy system, serving all major energy customers, we have to think about the different energy carriers including electricity, natural gas, and even liquid fuels. Currently the natural gas system provides a significant amount of energy to those customers through withdrawals from energy storage, such as underground, large-scale, natural gas storage reservoirs.
